Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we're asked most often.

Are you a government agency?+
No. IRISH DOC SERVICES (operated by GOV PAPERS SL) is a private, independent assistance service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the HSE, the General Register Office (GRO), the Department of Foreign Affairs or any branch of the Irish Government. Official documents are issued solely by those authorities.
What exactly do you help with?+
We assist with requesting Irish Death Certificates and Marriage Certificates, and we guide you through Irish passport applications and renewals — preparing your request, checking your documents and tracking progress until it's resolved.
How much does the service cost?+
For certificates, our service fee is €39, plus the official government fee of €20 and a shipping fee of €3 (Ireland) or €5 (international). For passport applications and renewals, our service fee is €99, plus the official government fee and postage. See our Fees & Processing Times page for full details.
How long does it take to receive my certificate or passport?+
Certificates are typically delivered within 1–2 weeks of submission to the General Register Office, depending on postal service. Passport applications and renewals are generally processed within 15 working days online, though the Department of Foreign Affairs recommends allowing up to 6 weeks. These are estimates set by the relevant Irish authority and not guaranteed timeframes.
What information do I need to provide?+
This depends on the service. For certificates, we typically need the full name, date and place of the event (death or marriage), and your relationship to the record. For passports, we'll ask for identity documents, proof of address and, where relevant, supporting documents for children. We'll send you a tailored checklist once you contact us.
Can you guarantee my application will be approved?+
No. Final approval and issuance of any certificate or passport rests entirely with the relevant Irish government authority. We help you prepare and submit an accurate, complete request to reduce the risk of delays or rejection, but we cannot guarantee the outcome.
Do you ship internationally?+
Yes. Certificates can be shipped within Ireland (€3) or internationally (€5). Passport postage fees are set by the Department of Foreign Affairs and detailed on our Passport page.
What payment methods do you accept?+
We will confirm available payment methods when you contact us about your specific request.
Can I get a refund?+
Refund eligibility depends on whether your application has already been submitted to the relevant Irish authority. Please see our Refund Policy for full details.
Is my personal information secure?+
We take data protection seriously and only use your information to process your request. Please see our Privacy Policy for full details on how we collect, use and protect your data.
